FAST FACTS

  • Pivot the business-critical Lotus Notes applications to Power Platform

  • Power Platform Proofs of Concept have already been developed, tested and released

  • A Centre of Excellence (COE) has been established to enable Power Platform as an Enterprise solution

Overview

The scope of Eighty20 Solution’s delivery of the Lotus Notes program for an Australian finance corporation was the migration and decommission of 60 known Lotus Notes applications, the removal of 12.5k databases and decommission of the entire Lotus Notes platform across Australia and New Zealand.  Target state solutions for the applications range from simple (e.g. archiving / accessible storage of data) to highly complex solutions, with multiple integrations with other systems and business processes.

The Solution

Led by Eighty20 consultation, a decision was taken by our client to pivot the business-critical Lotus Notes applications, in the Banking Line of Business, from the proposed on premises target state solution to Microsoft Power Platform.  There were several reasons for this shift:

The Eighty20 Solution

Power Platform is viewed as a more cost-effective solution to implement and with lower ongoing costs through the reduction in reliance on IT Technical teams or vendors for basic enhancements and upliftss
The business will have application owners that can manage the ongoing upkeep / monitoring of their application and create additional workflows and automations to increase productivity and decrease FTE – it is a “low code / no code” platform with a simple and intuitive user experience, enabling more ownership by the business

Power Platform is already being explored as the replacement for a number of systems and process across the organisation, including numerous manual workflows and business critical forms and applications

Eight Power Platform Proofs of Concept have already been developed, tested and released into the Production environment consumed by thousands of users, including an on-prem gateway installed for these POCs and the connector successfully linked to a standalone on-prem server
A Centre of Excellence (COE) has been established to enable Power Platform as an Enterprise solution, with the COE Governance Strategy developed by Eighty20 and handed over to our client for use following endorsement by Microsoft and our client’s Architecture, Security and Risk teams
Eighty20 has embedded Power Platform within the Technical, Business and Governance teams to ensure full governance, compliance and regulatory approvals are gained (APRA, ASIC, etc.)

The Outcome

  • Power Platform is a more cost-effective solution

  • Workflows and automations have improved productivity

  • Full governance compliance and regulatory approvals are in place

If you got this far, we should talk. Your business is about to get a whole lot easier.
